CJ Griffin’s Cases Highlighted in New Jersey Law Journal on Upcoming 2022 New Jersey Supreme Court Cases

The New Jersey Law Journal highlighted upcoming New Jersey Supreme Court cases in the article, “What Will the New Year Bring? A Glimpse of What’s Coming From the New Jersey Supreme Court in 2022.”  The article features upcoming cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court, including two cases in which CJ Griffin, partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden and Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center, represents the plaintiff seeking disclosure of the records of government employees under the Open Public Records Act.

In Rivera v. Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Griffin represents the plaintiff seeking the internal affairs record of an Elizabeth police director forced to resign over his use of racist and sexist slurs. In Libertarians for Transparent Government v. Cumberland County, Griffin represents the plaintiff in case involving whether a settlement agreement between a county government and a former employee resolving an internal disciplinary action against the employee is considered a government record—and not a personnel file—under Section 10 of the Open Public Records Act and therefore subject to disclosure under OPRA. Decisions in both cases are expected in 2022.
