CJ Griffin, Partner and Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was recently quoted in a BINJ article titled “Impunity Service”. The article discusses the State of Massachusetts’ disclosure policy regarding police misconduct. The State Police only publicize police misconduct cases in which the officers were formally charged or punished, and still many officers with disciplinary records continue to get jobs in law enforcement.

“The public deserves to see allegations of police misconduct in real time, because officers have tremendous powers and responsibilities in our communities. Their misconduct shouldn’t be kept a secret and something we learn about only if they decide to appeal their punishment. Transparency builds trust and also helps the public hold departments accountable,” said CJ Griffin.
