Attorney CJ Griffin quoted in northjersey.com article, “NJ court orders prosecutor to release video in fatal Bloomfield police shooting.” The article explains a state appellate court on Thursday ordered Essex County prosecutors to release body camera footage from a 2017 police shooting, affirming the right of citizens in New Jersey to get access to the video.

The ruling affirmed existing state law and should serve as a notice to other agencies tempted to withhold footage, said CJ Griffin, Rivera's attorney.

“These police shooting cases are probably the most important transparency cases we have,” said Griffin, who has represented NorthJersey.com and USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey in past open-records cases. “It’s important for the public to view the video and view the records and be able to make their own determination.”
