CJ Griffin Quoted in Article Discussing the Attorney General's Recent Order to Identify Certain Police Officers
CJ Griffin, director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted in an article in nj.com, “A.G. says order naming bad cops brings transparency. Police unions fear it will ‘harass, embarrass’ officers.” The article discusses that while some view the Attorney General’s recent order to publicly identify police officers who commit serious disciplinary violations as a giant step toward more transparency in law enforcement, others argue the order doesn’t go far enough.
CJ Griffin, an attorney who specializes in the state’s Open Public Records Act, said in a tweet that the attorney general’s order “isn’t real transparency.”
“We need actual (internal affairs) records, not just the list of names that we can’t even” verify is accurate, Griffin said.
